With the expertise and resources to help implement your sustainable business strategies.
Whether you need a standalone carbon assessment or a comprehensive emissions reduction plan,
We are here to guide you through every step of the process.
Our comprehensive six step process will guide you from awareness to developing a sound carbon management strategy to suit your business
Step 1 – Calculate
The initial step in this process requires you to determine a baseline emissions profile. This is done by calculating your scopes 1, 2 & 3 carbon emissions in alignment with the GHG protocol.
This process will identify your overall carbon output, the highest sources of emissions, key opportunities for emissions reduction and give you the insights required to develop a carbon management plan, which will map your journey moving forwards.
Step 2 – Target
Using your baseline carbon footprint, our expert team will prepare a practical carbon management plan, which is tailored to suit the business – both from an environmental and an economic standpoint.
Your plan will detail the identified opportunities for reduction – as well as the associated projected emissions savings, financial savings, required capital investment and ROI.
This process will establish a 3-5 year timeline towards your overall targeted emissions.
Step 3 – Reduce
By working through the OFIs outlined in your carbon management plan, you will take the necessary steps to reduce your emissions. This can be through utilising sustainable energy procurement, managing your value chain – including upstream and downstream purchasing practices, to looking to your supply chain for consolidating shipping and incorporating more sustainable material choices.
Step 4 – Offset
As you work through your action plan, there will be emissions you have not yet reduced. You may elect to offset your emissions with the purchase of fully verified carbon offsetting credits.
These are sustainably managed and procured through VERRA or Gold Standard, and each credit will offset 1 tonne of carbon emissions.
Offsetting any residual emissions will enable you to declare your business as carbon neutral.
Step 5 – Communicate
You have now established your business as low carbon or even as a carbon neutral business. Either way, you have made a commitment to preventing further climate change. Being able to effectively spread this message is key, as recognition as a low carbon business can be a key market differentiator. Ensure that you share your commitment through your branding, directors report and other social media presence. Attracting future investment and staff.
Step 6 – Comply
Positioning yourself as a low carbon alternative can have a huge impact on both governmental and NGO compliance. It will assist with tendering efforts in the Achilles utility database or otherwise, with PPN 06/21 for government contracts and increase your scoring within NHS net zero – evergreen ratings and EcoVadis sustainability ratings.
We are well versed in the requirements for these standards to enable you to achieve the highest possible rankings.
